British innovation: The past, present and future

Britain has long led the world in engineering and invention with our brightest minds changing the world we live in with their innovations.

According to new research, the British public is keenly aware of the feats of British inventors and engineers of yesteryear, with the likes of Alexander Graham Bell, George Stephenson and Isambard Kingdom Brunel topping a list of the greatest inventors of all time, well ahead of more contemporary engineers and innovators.

However, Britain’s engineers continue to lead the world in 2013, so who are the leading lights, who might you not have known are engineers and what can we expect in the future?
